Chief Executive, South London and Maudsley NHS Fundation Trust

Stuart has been Chief Executive of South London and Maudsley NHS Trust since it was formed in 1999. It became a Foundation Trust in 2006. After reading Modern History at Oxford University, he joined the NHS in 1982 and has held senior planning and service management roles in acute teaching and general hospitals and has had responsibility for organisational development and performance management at a regional level. In 1996 he was seconded to the Department of Health as Head of NHS Performance. He is co-editor and co-author of 'Management for Psychiatrists' (3rd edition) - Royal College of Psychiatrists 2007.
