Dr Andreas Guhl
Head of Health Economics Unit

Andreas joined NHS Innovations London in January 2008. Having worked in research at the University Clinic of Tuebingen (Germany), he joined UCB Pharma in Germany as Medical Director in 1995. His career in Health Economics started when he joined Allergan in Germany, where he had pan European responsibility for health outcomes studies and the development of pricing and reimbursement strategies across Europe.

He was then appointed by Cambridge Pharma (today IMS Health) to consult blue chip pharmaceutical and device companies on Health Economics and reimbursement strategies in Europe and the US. Going back to Germany he joined Eli Lilly to manage the medical marketing area in the CNS business unit.  In 2002, Andreas joined the European Headquarters of Biogen SAS (today Biogen-Idec), as Senior Manager Economic Affairs with pan European responsibility for health outcomes.  Following this, Andreas was appointed as Senior Manager Reimbursement Western Europe by Medtronic in Tolochenaz, Switzerland to develop and implement health outcomes studies and reimbursement strategies for Medtronic’s vascular division.

Apart from his work in the industry, Andreas initiated and implemented the European Journal of Health Economics – today’s standard literature for academics and industry.
