David initially worked as a scientific advisor to the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the World Health Organisation (WHO) before moving into marketing with Hewlett-Packard in Germany in 1984. Subsequently he has worked internationally in a variety of senior and Board level marketing, business development and general management positions in multinational and start-up companies in the medical, biotechnology and IT industries including the start-ups Quadrant Healthcare, LION Bioscience and Iomega. Quadrant was one of the first biotechnology companies in the UK to do a direct listing on the main market. LION Bioscience was the first company in history to do a simultaneous dual listing on NASDAQ and the Deutsche Boerse raising $250 million with a peak valuation of $1.6 billion. In the mid-90s, Iomega had almost cult status in the US with its Zip product and its share price rose several 1000% in 18 months. In 2003, David returned to the UK and has worked in private and public sector change management and organisational development, including the successful mergers and formation of Skills for Justice for the Home Office.

David sits on the NHS R&D Forum committee, the London Higher Healthcare Education Board and the UK Government's EPSRC Digital Economy Programme Advisory Board. David is the founder of ATcare Limited the UK's first design and development centre for assistive technologies for older people and the disabled and is Chairman of the interventional cardiology company PerQtech Ltd. He created the concepts for the Xpedite^® Innovations Management process, the Xcelerate^™ Health Outcomes Unit and the UK national network for health innovation the Health Innovations Alliance Ltd.
