Many of London's Trusts are rightly respected as centres of excellence with an international reputation for pioneering innovative approaches to medicine. NHSIL is proud and privileged to work alongside the London Trusts. Its close relationship with them gives NHSIL unique insight into which innovations are needed and can make a genuine difference. The following is a small selection of some of the NHS Trust hospitals with whom NHSIL has successfully developed innovative healthcare ideas.
Barts and the London NHS Trust
Today Barts and The London is one of Britain's leading medical and dental schools. Our world-renowned hospitals - Barts in The City, The Royal London in Whitechapel and The London Chest in Bethnal Green - are home to many international experts and world-class specialist centres, from cancer, cardiac and digestive diseases to trauma and a leading children's hospital.
Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust
Guy's and St Thomas' is made up of two of London's most well known teaching hospitals. They play a key role educating and training tomorrow's doctors, nurses and other health professionals. Guy's and St Thomas' is home to the largest dental hospital in Europe. Its services include routine dentistry, dental surgery, oral medicine and specialist dentistry.
Royal Brompton and Harefield NHS Trust
Royal Brompton Hospital is a national and international leader in the treatment of heart and lung disease. The Trust helps patients from all age groups who have heart and lung problems and is the country's largest centre for the treatment of adult congenital heart disease. Harefield hospital is renowned for its pioneering transplant unit. It is one of the largest and most experienced centres in the world for heart and lung transplants. In 1983, a team of doctors led by the Prof Sir Magdi Yacoub Magdi performed Britain's first heart-lung transplant.
University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
UCLH is a teaching hospital in London associated with University College London Hospitals and The National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery (NHNN). The NHNN is a leading centre for the diagnosis, treatment and care of patients with a wide range of neurological conditions such as epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, stroke and head injuries. With its neighbour, the Institute of Neurology, it is a major international centre for research and training. The NHNN provides comprehensive neurology and neurosurgery services for our other hospitals, including an acute brain injury unit, the national prion clinic and a neurorehabilitation unit.
The London Heart Hopsital is also part of UCLH. The hospital is now one of the biggest cardiac centres in the country, offering dedicated, specialist care. At the forefront of national and international research, thousands of patients benefit from revolutionary diagnostic and surgical techniques.
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust
Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust operates across two main sites at Queen’s and King George hospitals serving a population of around 700,000 from a wide range of social and ethnic groups, making it one of the largest acute hospital trusts in the UK.
