Great Ormond Street Hospital have unveiled their new, electronic PANDA software tool that measures patient dependency and calculates nursing staff requirements based on the actual acuity and dependency of children facilitating better workforce planning.
The software, which replaces a paper-based system, is the first of its kind to be used in a paediatric setting in the UK.
Using PANDA software will enable you to:
- review funding streams for patients and the classification of high dependency areas
- create flexible, quick and accurate acuity and dependency reports to go to commissioners with to evidence how many children have required high dependency care and for how long, and the level of nursing care needed
- ensure you have the right skill mix and number of staff on the wards but also to explore the results in relation to clinical risk
- the live data makes it easier to see the workload on any ward at any time and to plan care
- enter data real-time on the ward thereby reducing administrative time completing paper based forms
