Xcelerate™ Health Outcomes (XHO) is a specialist business unit of NHS Innovations London (NHSIL) that utilises its well established access, expertise and insight to open up access to NHS clinical pathways and anonymised patient data* by acting as a bridge between NHS Trusts and industry.
By virtue of its work within the Trusts and using its network of senior NHS contacts, XHO helps companies demonstrate cost effectiveness to regulatory bodies and drug tariffs.
Xcelerate™ Health Outcomes does this by:
- Accessing real world usage of medicines and devices data
- Networking with key opinion leaders and consultants
- Identifying the financial and costing data and other health economic indicators that are used by healthcare providers when assessing the cost/benefit of new product
- Identifying the clinical pathways and criteria used for adopting medical products
- Helping to adapt clinical trial design to provide relevant health economic evaluations
XHO leverages its Trust relationships and their real world data to support swift and meaningful health economics assessments. At the start of each project, NHSIL identifies and consults with a key opinion leaders and/or clinicians to get their advice on how to design the study. Only then does the team progress to data identification, validation and extraction. Securing multi-ethical approval and individual study approval from each plus appropriate financial and data confidentiality agreements can becomplicated and take time for third parties working outside the NHS. NHSIL can facilitate and accelerate this process because we know who to approach and the routes to approval.
